H.H.Sri Sri Ravi Shankar - There is some rhythm in the breath and this rhythm is connected to the rhythm in the world. The rhythm in the nature the rhythm in the body, the rhythm of your thoughts and rhythm of your emotions. Don’t think just that the people in the hospital are sick. Anyone who is not happy is sick. Anyone who is not calm and stable is sick. Mind is very abstract. Means you cannot directly deal with the mind. The only thing you can do is you can speak about whatever your feelings are and you may feel a little relief for a while and then but again it starts with the same patterns, same habits. But if you attend your breath, then the root cause of this problem or any problem that the mind is facing is eliminated. It works on the very cause level. 2) How to balance three gunas. This is through the practices. Purpose of meditation and silence is too raise the sattva. Usually one is dreaming in the sleep or dreaming when they are awake. Very rare once in a while or here and there in life one experience a clear awareness, a clarity of mind. The rest of the time mind is all in jumbled, it’s all in a mess. Because you all the time think about the past, the future, and past and future, and daydreaming. There is very little of awareness, awakening. So there is very little happiness, very little joy, very little sattva in life. Pranayama, kriya, meditation, listening to knowledge, all this increases, sattva.
